View each room of the home, including the garage. Look for any changes necessary to ensure the safety of the dog. Ask the applicant how they would dog proof the rooms, if not already done.

Reminder: Look at the set up of the home. Is it conducive to supervision of the dog? Will they need baby gates or x-pen to make supervision more manageable? If necessary, recommend a place that would be best to install gate, etc. (on tile, kitchen area, etc.)

Remind the applicant that the dog should be supervised at all times in the home and yard. EMPHASIZE Dog should NEVER be outside alone. Warn of increase in wildlife sightings, bobcats, coyotes, etc. If the dog is not in a secure, fenced area, it should not be off leash.
